The Keokuk Chiefs basketball teams were swept in a conference rivalry game in Fairfield Thursday night. The girls led off the night against the 5 and 3 Fairfield Trojans and suffered a 51 to 30 defeat. The Chiefs lost their third straight game as they allowed Fairfield Junior guard Amber Buch to score 26 points on 8 of 8 shooting from the floor. Michaela Davis led the way with 10 points for the Chiefs who will look to rebound Tuesday January 3rd when they host Scotland County Missouri.
The Chiefs Boys basketball team was competitive in the nightcap but fell 66 to 58 to the Trojans. The Chiefs went into halftime tied with Fairfield at 34 points but faded in the second half to fall to 0 and 6 to start the season. Fairfield sophomore Carson Crile scored 22 points to pace the Trojans who improved to 2 and 4 for the season. Damon Wolter led the Chiefs in scoring with 12 points and freshmen Jace Wade and Eddie Lee each contributed 11. The Chiefs will be back in action Thursday January 5th when they travel to Central Lee High School.
