The Lee County Salvation Army completed a successful Holiday fundraising campaign on Christmas Eve Saturday. The charitable organization had set a goal of 84,500 dollars to be raised during the Kettle Drive that has become so well known in the lead up to Christmas. According to Salvation Army Major Mark Litherlund, the group actually surpassed the goal on Friday, one whole day before Christmas Eve. On December 10th, 18,200 dollars were raised when kettles brought in 8200 dollars and an anonymous donor added 10,000 dollars. The Christmas funding campaign goes through the month of January 2017 with the finalization of mail appeals and other donations.
