11 year old Mateo Rascon of Burlington, Iowa certainly didn’t freeze up on the big stage of Augusta National Golf Club Sunday. While many 11 year olds would have just been happy to qualify for the Drive, Putt, and Chip championships at the home of the Masters, Mateo showed he was in it to compete. Following his send off Thursday from Burlington Golf Club, Mateo took part in the 10 and 11 year old division of the Drive, Putt, and Chip Championships Sunday and finished 2nd out of 10 competitors falling just 2 points short of winner Liam Hartling’s 23. Raston won the Driving portion of the championships, while finishing 3rd in chipping, and 8th in putting. Mateo qualified for the championships at August after succeeding at tournaments at Pleasant Hills, then Des Moines, before ultimately qualifying at Hazeltine National in Chaska, Minnesota in September.
