The Keokuk High School Girls Track team was paced to a 3rd place finish by its junior standout again Friday afternoon. Junior Ya-Mia Ailes Primes won the 200 meter dash while finishing 2nd in the long jump, 3rd in the 100, and 4th in the 400 at the Bullette Invitational meet at Mediapolis High School. Fellow Junior Lillia Tate won her 3rd consecutive 100 meter hurdle event while the Chiefs swept the top 3 spots in the discus throw with Haylee Broadwell, Morgan Broadwell, and Madison Benson finishing in order to make the medal stand. Keokuk had a strong day in the relays as well as the 4 by 200 team of Sujata Buerklin, Jaelyn Wood, Gracie Koeber, and Cassidy Koeber took first of 12 teams. The 4 by 100 team of Buerklin, Wood, Tate, and Cassidy Koeber took 3rd while the 4 by 100 meter shuttle hurdles team of Natasya Kane, Siona Smith, Megan Geisler, and Lillia Tate took home 1st place honors. Keokuk finished with 97 points for the meet behind only Pekin, and Washington. Both the boys and girls track teams will be back in action Monday night in a 7 team meet at Central Lee high School.
