William E. “Bill” Ewing

William E. “Bill” Ewing, 65 of rural Hamilton, IL died Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his home.

He was born June 19, 1951, in Keokuk the son of William Sr. and Phyllis VanAusdall Ewing. He was first united in marriage to Patricia Hauff in 1977. They later divorced. He later married Rhonda Smith Kreis on August 26, 1995, in Hamilton, IL, they are currently separated. She survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Kali Ewing (Brian) of Keokuk, Michelle McEntee (Brian) of Dallas City, IL, Kelly Rowlett (Bill) of Hamilton, IL and Leslie Kreis (Jazz) of Dallas City, IL fourteen grandchildren, his mother, Phyllis Ewing of Hamilton, IL, and one brother, Alex Ewing of Crystal Lake, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Bill graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, IL.

He had been employed by Centurylink, originally MaBell, for thirty-eight years until his retirement on January 1, 2017.

Bill loved taking care of the horses. He was very artistic and enjoyed drawing cartoon characters, sketching and doodling. He was an exceptional graphic artist and created greeting cards and postcards for truck drivers to enjoy. Bill enjoyed woodworking, and once made a model stage coach. Most of all, Bill adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Doug Campbell officiating.

Visitation will be held after 3 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m. Read More »
