Keokuk Middle School Has A New Principal

The Keokuk School District has a new middle school principal. At Monday’s school board meeting, it was announced that Nora Springs, Iowa native Layne Billings had accepted the position to become the head administrator at the middle school. Billings comes to Keokuk from Gilbert High School just north of Ames where he spent the last 5 years as the principal. Billings also spent 10 years as a teacher and assistant principal in the Tri-County School District south of Iowa City as well as Alpine School District in northern Utah prior to returning to Iowa. Middle School Assistant Principal Kevin Henrichs feels that having an administrator with both experience and desire will be an asset to the district.

Billings is slated to begin at the middle school beginning August 1st and he will receive an annual salary of 90 thousand dollars for a year-long contract in his first year at the district.
