District 5 Lands 3 Teams in State Football Playoff

While the Keokuk high School football team struggled through an 0 and 9 campaign, it can take some solace in the fact that it clearly played a very difficult district schedule. State football playoff brackets for Iowa Class 3A were announced Saturday and District 5 was one of just a couple of a districts in the state that placed 3 schools in the playoff. The undefeated Solon Spartans took a #1 seed in their 4 team bracket and will open at home against 7 and 2 Decorah. The 8 and 1 Washington Demons took the 2nd District 5A seed and will open on the road against 7 and 2 Davenport Assumption. The Oskaloosa Indians were the only 6 and 3 team to make the playoff as an at-large seed and as such open the tournament on the road against overall top-seed and undefeated Cedar Rapids Xavier. Each state football playoff game will take place Friday night at 7PM.
