The South Lee County Courthouse in Keokuk continues to be in the spotlight not only locally but nationally. While the courthouse building itself continues to undergo tuckpointing repairs, indoors a high profile murder case continues. Security has been beefed up at the Keokuk courthouse due to the recent arrival of the Jorge Sanders-Galvez murder trial. Multiple Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies have been on scene during the trial to transport Sanders Galvez and Stacy Weber notified attendants that anyone entering the courtrooms in Keokuk will be searched each time they pass through the entrance. Press coverage has also increased with the New York Times sending a Chicago-based correspondent to cover the jury selection which continued Wednesday morning in the first degree murder case.
