For the 2nd straight year the Help-A-Thon fundraiser and community service project is coming to Warsaw High School. The Help-A-Thon was introduced during the fall of 2016 by Warsaw High School Principal Brad Froman and English Teacher Paige Henninger as a way for students to perform community service, while also allowing the students to raise money without soliciting strangers for candy bars or other food items. Students are asked to sign up sponsors who will contribute money if students perform manual labor-related tasks throughout the Tri-states area with an emphasis on helping the elderly. WHS junior Mia Stout explained what she did last year and why it is so important to her.
Senior Cicely Stevenson explained that while volunteer work isn’t mandatory at Warsaw High School, this provides an opportunity for students to learn about giving back.
Froman went further, explaining that the money goes back to the students through things like technological purchases and a lounge area at the school being built.
The Warsaw high School help-a-thon will take place all day Thursday and anyone looking to contribute is encouraged to call the school at (217) 256-4281.
