During the regular Keokuk City Council meeting Thursday night, multiple action items were put to vote. A public hearing was held as lots at 4 and 5 were vacated in the Joyce Park Subdivision to make way for the upcoming construction of the new Great River Health Systems clinic. A contract was approved with Southeast Iowa Regional Planning to administer the 1 million dollar grant that was awarded to the old Roquette laboratory on Exchange Street. SEIRPC will be paid 35 thousand dollars to manage the grant funds and City Administrator Aaron Burnett that planning is underway but the improvements to the Roquette Laboratory probably won’t start for 6 to 8 months. The council unanimously approved of the 2nd reading and waved the 3rd reading of both the amended firework ordinance as well as the ordinance of penalties for code violation in Keokuk.
