In the Fall of 2019, The Fund for Nora was established at The Keokuk Area Community Foundation to rebuild and help preserve Oakland Cemetery. The Hickey and Azinger Families created the Fund for Nora to rebuild the roads around the burial plot of Nora Azinger, who passed away in 2019. Throughout 2020-2021 several roads at Oakland Cemetery were rebuilt and completed due to contributions to the Fund for Nora. Hickey Contracting and The City of Keokuk have worked together recently to create a plan to improve the entrances and roads throughout the Cemetery and the first phase of that construction was completed in 2021 and early 2022.
Recently, the Fund for Nora received an anonymous $82,158.79 gift to support the continuing efforts of rebuilding and preserving Oakland Cemetery. Since the Fund was established, The Fund for Nora has received $114,323.79 in gifts and contributions from many donors and friends of Oakland Cemetery.
The Fund for Nora is a Community Impact Fund of the Keokuk Area Community Foundation and gifts to the Fund for Nora can be made at keokukfoundation.org or mailed to the Keokuk Area Community Foundation at P.O. Box 367, Keokuk, Iowa 52632.
