Willa Shuman, 89, of Kahoka, died December 22, 2023 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born on July 11, 1934 in Clark County, MO the daughter of Virgil and Bertha Shannon Walker.
Willa graduated from the Kahoka High School with the Class of 1952.
In 1951 she was united in marriage to John F. Shuman in Kahoka. For over sixty-nine years they shared a loved which saw them through the joys and sorrows of life. John preceded her in death on March 30, 2021.
Willa was the CEO of the Shuman family and ran a tight ship. She also was the unit clerk at the Keokuk Area Hospital for 30 years.
She was a member of the St. Martha’s Catholic Church and the St. Martha’s Daughters of Isabella.
She loved to play bingo and go to the stock car races with John. Her biggest joy was her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Belinda Kellerman (Don) of O’Fallon, MO, Bonnie O’Brien (Dennis) of Luray, MO, Wayne Shuman (Jenna) of Kahoka, Judy Wood of Wayland, MO, Larry Shuman (Diana Verdught) of Kahoka and Charlie Shuman (Kim) of Kahoka, ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, with two more on the way and numerous other family members and friends.
Willa was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Walker, .her husband, one grandson, Tony O’Brien and one granddaughter, Carmen Shuman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kahoka, MO with Father Rob Fields officiating. Burial will be in the Kahoka Cemetery, Kahoka, MO.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with family meeting with friends at that time.
The Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka is in charge of arrangements.
