Ronald Glen “Ron” Fowler, 86, of Keokuk, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
Ron was born on January 3, 1938, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Carl Adolf and Charlotte Ransome (Clingman) Fowler. On December 30, 1960, he was united in marriage to Janet “Jan” Mitchell in Quincy, Illinois She preceded him in death on January 10, 2016.
Ron was a member and a deacon at Bel Air Baptist Church in Keokuk and was employed as production supervisor at Drydens (Sheller-Globe, BTR, Henneges). He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966, receiving his honorable discharge. Ron was a Private First Class with the 504 Unit at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia, serving as military police and a body guard for President Kennedy.
Ron is survived by three children, Julia Ann (Steven) Roeglin of Stuarts Draft, VA; Jolene Kay (Michael) Nichols of Graettinger, IA; and Janell Marie Fowler of Keokuk; five grandchildren, Adam Roeglin, Allison (John) Forystek, Alexander (Emily) Roeglin, Christian Nichols and Isabel (Wesleigh) Nichols; eight great-grandchildren: Judah, Olivia, Ariah, Sophia, Ariella, Javan, Annalise and Noah; his sister Sandra Dianne Fowler (Ronald) Hageman of Keokuk; three sisters-in-law Joan (Richard) Jordan, Joyce Kemper and Clarissa Fowler.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Janet Fowler; four siblings: Leroy Fowler, Carl Leland (Laverne) Fowler, Vincent Dale Fowler and Laverne Burdette (Yvette) Fowler; his in-laws Maxine (James) Marshall, Francis Nichols and Don Kemper.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Bel Air Baptist Church in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 pm, with family meeting friends from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, September 17, at Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the Montrose Riverfront, Inc., or Amazing Grace Building Fund in Kahoka, Missouri.
The family would like to thank the staff of River Hills Village and Everystep Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
