Kenneth “Kenny” Leroy Hellyer, 90, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Kenny was born on April 8, 1934, in Carthage, IL, the son of Wayne and Florence (Jenkins) Hellyer. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1951 and was part of a very good football team that year. Kenny went on to farm for most of his life until he retired. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Carthage. He was also a 50 year member of both the Denver Lodge 464 and the Eastern Star. Kenny liked to go to the Peoria River Boat and play cards and the lottery machines. He also enjoyed going to coffee shops in the morning and playing a round of golf.
Kenny is survived by his children; Dennis (Candy) Hellyer of Loraine, IL, Greg (Donna) Hellyer of Plymouth, IL, and Scott (Bev) Hellyer of Carthage, IL; his grandchildren, Cassy (Ragan) Peter of Loraine, IL, Kayla (Jeremy) Bosch of Champaign, IL, Ryan (Kyra) Hellyer of Carthage, IL, Kristi (Justin) Henson of Colchester, IL, Nicholas (Ashley Eddington) Hellyer of Carthage, IL and Natalie Hellyer of Carthage, IL ; his great-grandchildren, Jace Henson, Alexis Hellyer, Weston Hellyer, Clayton Snyder, Fynleah Peter, Mellie Peter, and Gibson Bosch; his sister, Wanda Brodie; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Maurice Hellyer.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 9 am until the time of the service. Memorials may be made out to the Golden Good Shepherd Home. Printy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
