Elizabeth “Liz” Lynn Krudwig, 72, of Montrose, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at her home in Montrose surrounded by her family and friends.

Liz was born on February 4, 1954, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of David and Patricia Joan (Gundy) Porter. She graduated from Central Lee High School in 1972, where she was a talented cheerleader. Liz held several jobs throughout her working career. She was employed at Keokuk Steel Castings in the lab for fourteen years and owned the Eagles Nest in Montrose for many years. Liz, or Ma, to her family, lived a full life. She was a tough lady who had a heart for the poor and oppressed and was the life of the party wherever she went. In her eyes, a stranger was just a friend you hadn’t met yet. Liz had a soft heart and always had your back. Unless you got on her bad side. If that happened, you would quickly find out she held a black belt in the art of holding a grudge. You never had to wonder what Liz was thinking, she would tell you exactly what was on her mind. A wonderful artist, Liz was known for known for her beautiful front entrance decorations at her home and her Bob Ross style paintings. She loved the great outdoors, whether it was fishing and hunting with Gary or mowing her yard.

Liz is survived by her husband Gary Krudwig of Montrose; her son Corey (Nicci) Moore of Missouri; her daughter Carey (Larry) Leasman of Bowen, Illinois; her mother Patricia Whitmore of Keokuk; her in-laws Frank and Carol Krudwig of Chillicothe, Illinois; her stepdaughter Amy Gaffney of Washington, Illinois; her stepson Jay (Tonia) Krudwig of Plano, Illinois; three grandchildren: Gavyn, Conner and Ostyn (Fiance Chadie Rudd) Moore; six step-grandchildren: Hudson, Jaxon, Logan, Oliver, Declan and Landon; and five siblings: Karl (Laura) Porter of Keokuk, Martha (Peter) Atwood of Montrose, Davey Morgan of Montrose, Steve Morgan of Texas and Robbie Morgan of Montrose.

Liz is preceded in death by her stepfather Monte Morgan, her biological father David Porter, her brothers Brian and Phillip Porter and her sister Julia Morgan.

A celebration of Liz’s life will be held at a later date.
