Lynda J. Matlick, 83, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Lynda was born December 7, 1942, in Greensburg, Missouri, the daughter of Leonard and Bessie (Kennison) Mallett. On December 18, 1959, she was united in marriage to Charles Russell Matlick at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Greensburg, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1992. She was employed for most of her career at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison until her retirement in 2006. Lynda was a member of Calvary Foursquare Church and loved spending time with her family. She was an avid gardener, growing flowers and vegetables which she shared with her family and friends. She was an incredible cook and an even better baker. She was known for baking “Grandma’s pies” for her grandson’s restaurant, Dr. Getwell’s. Lynda will always be remembered for her jokes and her stubborn, ornery personality.

Lynda is survived by her son Doug (Vickie) Matlick and their children: Brett Matlick, Zachary (Jackie) Matlick, Chelsey (Kendall) Hawkins, Lexie Shipley, Cole (Lexie) Shipley and Colin Matlick; her son David (Becky) Matlick and their children: Michael Matlick and Michelle (Justin) Ahearn; daughter Debbie (Jeff) Varner and their children: Jeremy (Min) Varner, Joshua (Ashley) Varner, Melissa Hunt and Miranda (Sinisa) Djukic; her son Daniel (Christina) Matlick and their children: Liam and Logan Matlick; eighteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Joann Mallett of Edina, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lynda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Matlick; and seven siblings: Doris (Cleon) Rhodes, Bill (Betty) Mallett, Donald (Ann) Mallett, Hillis (Delma) Mallett, Georganna (Glenn) Lister, Earl Mallett and Paul Mallett.

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm (Noon) on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. Funeral services will be held at 12 pm (Noon) on Tuesday, June 16, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk.

Memorials may be directed to the Rand Park Garden Club.
