Charlotte Mabel Bunton, 91, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, under hospice care in Hamilton, Illinois.
Charlotte was born on August 11, 1934, in Montrose, Iowa, the daughter of James and Clara (Crowson) Clark. She graduated from Montrose High School in 1952, and in 1958, she was united in marriage to Willie Bunton in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2001.
Charlotte was employed as a housekeeper throughout the area. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and attended God’s Way Christian Center. Charlotte loved playing lottery tickets, riding around town, and spending time with family and friends.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter Alena Bunton (lifelong partner Charlie Chaplin) of Keokuk; two brothers: Elmer and Jim Clark, both of Keokuk; her sister Wanda Cannon of Keokuk; her sister-in-law Peggy Clark of Keokuk; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willie Bunton; two sisters: Maxine (James) Sims and Fern (Roscoe) Coby; two brothers: Clifford and Clyde Clark; and her sister-in-law Lottie Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home directly before the service.
Memorials may be directed to Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
