Wakanda to Washington: “Black Panther” items are headed to the National Museum of African American History
Marvel Studios(WASHINGTON D.C.) — Black Panther’s vibranium costume and other items from the record-breaking film will soon be on display at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C.
The museum acquired several objects from the blockbuster Marvel movie, including the Black Panther suit worn by actor Chadwick Boseman; a shooting script signed by director Ryan Coogler, Marvel President Kevin Feige, executive producer Nate Moore and co-writer/producer Joe Robert Cole; two early script pages; and 24 high-resolution production photographs.
The items will be on display during the inaugural Smithsonian African American Film Festival in October. Plans for a permanent display of the objects are currently under consideration by the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Marvel’s Black Panther made history by featuring the first black superhero lead in mainstream film. It is the third-highest grossing film domestically, having earned just under $700 million.
