Keokuk City Council Meetings
CPA Associates P.C., Certified Public Accountants, today released an audit report on the Keokuk Municipal Waterworks, a Component Unit of the City of Keokuk, dated December 19, 2018.
CPA Associates P.C.reported that the Waterworks had operating revenues of $7,969,891 and non-operating revenues $64,504 for the year ended June 30, 2018.
Waterworks operating expenses, including depreciation, totaled $7,491,846, an 11.34% increase from the prior year.
A copy of this report is available for review in the Office of the Auditor of State and the Keokuk Municipal Waterworks office in Keokuk, Iowa.
Providing you are a residential customer that pays for garbage collection within the corporate city limits of Keokuk, the City of Keokuk will provide you with vouchers to dispose of two loads free of charge to the Lee County Transfer Station for the City Wide Clean Up.
The program runs twice a year. As the program stands right now, the vouchers will be provided during the months of April/May and October/November.

The Keokuk Public Library has announced they are trying a new program this year called the Patron’s Choice Awards.
Throughout the month of January, they encourage people to cast their vote for their favorite books, items and library services from 2018. Winners will be announced in February.
Ballots are now available at the library as the program started at Noon on Wednesday, Jan. 2. People will also be able to vote online through their website at www.keokuklibrary.org.
The library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 8 PM, Friday 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. They are closed on Sundays.

From the Pen City Current, in appreciation of their long commitment, the following employees at the DuPont Company were recognized in the 4th Quarter of 2018 for their service milestones.
Kelley Joe Clark, Jerry Merschman, and Joe Puga were honored for 40 years of service and Brett Workman was honored for 15 years of service.
The Warsaw Fire Department will be hosting the 15th Annual Bubba Dicks Scholarship Fundraiser with a Soup and Sandwich Supper from 5-8 PM in the Warsaw High School Cafeteria.
This will be during the same time period as the West Hancock Boys Basketball Tournament as Illini West will play Keokuk at 6 PM and then West Hancock will follow against Unity at 7:30 PM.
Attendees can purchase a drink and soup of sandwich for $3 or can get a sandwich, soup and a drink for $5. Menu items include chili, vegetable soup, a Bar-B-Cue pork sandwich, tea or lemonade. All proceeds will go towards local scholarships.
In sports news, the Clark County Indian girls and boys basketball teams began play on Thursday in the Highland Tournament.
Both teams will play Thursday, Friday and Saturday while the junior varsity teams for both programs will also be in a tournament as they travel to Monroe City on Friday.
Central Lee’s basketball teams will also return to action on Friday with a double header on the road at Holy Trinity Catholic at 6:15 and 7:45 PM.
The Hawks come into the game at 10-2 and are led in scoring by sophomore Mya Merschman who is averaging 17.0 points per game and senior Emily Fuller at 14.3 points per game.
Merschman also leads the team in rebounds, three point shooting, steals and block as well.
In their last contest, Central Lee was on the road and lost the Quincy Notre Dame by two on Dec. 22. Merschman was the only player in double figures with 15.
For the boys team, Bronson Sargent leads the 1-7 Hawks with 9.4 points each contest while Jordan Nagel and TJ Stutes are averaging 8.1 and 7.6 respectively.
The boys are coming off a 54-83 loss at home against the Danville Bears on Dec. 21.
The NFL playoffs begin this weekend and there will be four games between the AFC and NFC.
The six seeded Indianapolis Colts will travel to division rival and third seed Houston Texans for the third matchup of the season between the two. They will kick-off the playoffs at 3:35 on Saturday afternoon.
The next matchup will be between Russell Wilson’s Seattle Seahawks and Dak Prescott’s Dallas Cowboys at 7:15 PM.
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers will travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens for their first playoff game since leaving San Diego. The Ravens beat the Chargers in Los Angeles two weeks ago and now will have to opportunity to defend their home field beginning at 12:05 PM.
The NFC Champion Chicago Bears will then play host to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles to finish off the weekend as Eagles quarterback Nick Foles will look to replicate the postseason magic he had during their title run last year.
The game will begin at 3:40 PM.
The Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints are the number one seeds in their conferences and await the lowest seeded team remaining in the playoffs next weekend. They will each have home field advantage throughout until the Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams will each host the highest remaining seed left after this week.
The 12 remaining teams will battle it out over the next three weeks to decide who will represent their conferences in the Super Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, Feb. 3.
