Wisconsin crops could use more rain

Some weekend showers delivered a little water to Wisconsin’s crops, but not enough.  USDA Statistician Greg Bussler says pockets of precipitation were received, although continued overall dry conditions have farmers concerned. Wheat harvest underway in Kentucky

Some crops in Kentucky are starting to show signs of drought stress despite the recent scattered rains. Tennessee crop conditions decline as drought area expands

Tennessee has been without measurable rainfall for several weeks resulting in declining crop conditions. Some parts of the state have entered into D1 or moderate drought conditions. More than half of Illinois crops rated good or worse

Persistent dry conditions are eroding Illinois crop conditions. The USDA reports as of Sunday the corn crop is rated 48 percent good to excellent, and soybeans are rated 47 percent.  Corn and soybean emergence is ahead of last year and the five-year average. The USDA says some areas of Minnesota have become very dry and need rain.  Seven percent of topsoil moisture was rated very short, with 34% short, 54% adequate, and 5% surplus. Six percent of subsoil moisture was very short, with 29% short, 61% adequate, and 4% surplus.
