Iowa’s corn crop is off to a great start. USDA’s latest condition rating puts 86 percent in the good to excellent category, well above the national average of 73 percent. Emergence is 87 percent, six days behind last year and one day behind the five-year average. Missouri’s planting and crop progress is mostly steady with the average. USDA says 95 percent of the state’s corn crop is planted. Corn emergence is still slightly behind at 86 percent. Corn planting is nearing the end in Minnesota. The latest crop report from USDA says at 93 percent complete, this year’s pace is five days off the five-year average. Corn emergence is at 66 percent with 60 percent rated in good to excellent condition. South Dakota farmers continue their efforts to catch up on planting. The USDA says 93 percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, compared to 99 percent last year. Crop conditions mixed in Tennessee

Crop conditions were mixed last week in Tennessee. The USDA says corn planting is nearly over in the western part of the state, but soybean planting has been slowed down by the winter wheat harvest and some cotton producers are having to replant because of unfavorable weather. Despite a week of rainy weather, drought is still impacting Kansas winter wheat condition. Chicago Mercantile Exchange live and feeder cattle were lower, with feeders leading the way down on the higher move in corn. Both were also watching the distribution of this week’s direct show list.
