CME milk higher, cash dairy mixed Wednesday

Milk futures were up and cash dairy prices were mixed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Wednesday. May Class III milk was up $.03 at $25.11.  June closed up $0.05 at $24.20.  July closed up $.12 at $24.45.  August was up $0.25 at $24.20.  September through March contracts ranged from ten to twenty-four cents higher. April poultry production declines 4% on year

The USDA says poultry production during April was 4.038 billion pounds. That’s down 4% on the year following declines in both processing and live weights. Most of the monthly total was chicken at 3.381 billion pounds, 3% lower, with turkey accounting for 253.843 million pounds, a drop of 11%. Ethanol production back over a million barrels a day

U.S. ethanol production climbed higher last week. The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.014 million barrels a day, up 23,000 barrels on the week as plants return from seasonal maintenance, but down 18,000 on the year.
