South Dakota farmers trying to catch up

Corn and soybean planting continues to trickle along in South Dakota. The USDA says 31 percent of the state’s corn is planted, well behind 83 percent last year and 54 percent for the five-year average. The USDA says hot and dry weather delivered nearly ideal planting conditions for Hoosier farmers last week. Forty percent of Indiana’s corn crop is planted, compared to 60 percent last year.
