Total acres burned in Nebraska from April wildfires approach 150,000

More than 140,000 acres of agricultural land have burned in a Western Corn Belt state from wildfires since the beginning of April. The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency says fires in more than 15 counties were reported in different areas of the state with many occurring simultaneously. Cool, wet conditions keep planting at bay in southeast Minnesota

U.S. export sales were mixed during the week ending April 21st. The USDA says soybeans, wheat, and pork all bounced back last week, while corn and beef posted week-to-week declines, with all of those below average, seeing some impact from the recent rally in the dollar. Nebraska reports 7th case of HPAI

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture has confirmed the state’s seventh case of Highly Parthenogenic Avian Influenza. NDA and USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed the virus on a farm in Knox County with a flock of over 2.1 million laying hens. At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder closed lower watching corn and waiting for the rest of the week’s direct cash business develop.
