Ethanol production, stocks lower on the week

Ethanol production scaled back last week while stocks thinned for the first time in more than a month. The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged just over 1 million barrels a day, down 33,000 on the week but about 3 percent higher than a year ago. Fifth case of HPAI confirmed in Nebraska

Illinois shuts down poultry events to prevent spread of avian influenza

In an effort to slow the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, the Illinois Department of Agriculture has cancelled upcoming live bird exhibitions and sales. The department filed an emergency rule Tuesday prohibiting the sale or exhibition of poultry and poultry products at swap meets, shows, flea markets and auctions, which takes effect immediately.
