Arkansas crops: 90% rice and 74% cotton planted

Another decent week of weather helped Arkansas farmers make big strides in planting pace. Iowa farmers close corn planting gap, surpass average soybean pace

Another week of mostly favorable weather allowed Iowa farmers to creep closer to the normal planting pace. Soybean planting still slow in South Dakota

Corn and soybean planting continues to lag in South Dakota. USDA’s latest crop report says corn is 62 percent planted, compared to the five-year average of 71 percent.  Emergence is 11 percent, well behind 33 percent normally. Additional funds aid efforts to remove feral hogs from Arkansas

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture has been awarded additional funds to help with feral hog eradication efforts across the state.  The $650,000 in federal funding was part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022.  Arkansas Secretary of Ag Wes Ward says the department will use the federal funds to work with USDA Wildlife Services to implement a statewide feral hog management plan.  The efforts are intended to supplement ongoing removal […]

Wisconsin farmers accelerated fieldwork last week

Wisconsin farmers made a lot of planting progress last week as the weather was suitable for fieldwork on five out of seven days.  USDA reporters say the rapid pace allowed 27% of the corn and 23% of the soybean crop to get in the ground last week alone.
