Danny Hugh Hardy

Danny Hugh Hardy, 65 of Luray, MO passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO.

He was born January 16, 1960 in Keokuk, IA the son of Kenneth and Bessie Louise Calvert Hardy. A proud graduate of Wyaconda High School, Danny was a member of the Class of 1978.

He had been employed by Griffin Wheel in Keokuk for twenty years and was a self-employed carpenter.

Danny was of the Methodist faith.

A true outdoorsman, he found joy in the rhythms of nature—cattle farming, mushroom hunting, searching for arrowheads, and deer hunting were among his favorite pastimes. He embraced a life “off the grid,” living close to the earth and guided by the seasons. Some of his most cherished memories were made on family camping trips, where they went deer hunting and played cards all night long. Danny will be remembered for his wisdom, his independence, and the deep connection he shared with nature.

He is survived by his three children, Duane Hardy of Columbia, MO, Allison Ludwick (Dylan) of Peaksville, MO and Summer Miller of Keokuk and eight grandchildren, Kathrynn Jonathan, William, Forrester Schmitz and Benjamin Hardy, Olivia Hardy, Matthew Manton and Camdyn Miller. He is also survived by one son-in-law, Lee Schmitz of Wyaconda, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Susan Louise Schmitz.

A private family service will take place on the family farm.
