Lindsay Noele Nichols, 49, of Carthage, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Lindsay was born November 21, 1976, the daughter of Cecil Charles and Peggy Lorraine (Skinner) Brassfield in West Plains, Missouri. In 1988 she was baptized by her father in a friend’s swimming pool, and she remained a faithful follower of Jesus Christ the remainder of her life. She attended Moberly Senior High School, graduating in 1995. She then went on to attend Central Christian College of the Bible receiving her associate’s degree in 1998. It was while visiting Central that she met her husband, Mark Nichols, and they were united in marriage on December 27th, 1997, in Moberly Missouri (by Kirk Womacks who is also officiating her funeral service). In 2000 her husband Mark became a minister at Burnside Christian Church and Lindsay was hired by the Carthage Public Library before she even moved to town. She loved history, and reading, and was a tremendous asset to the library for over 25 years. She also enjoyed scrapbooking and attended many scrapbook retreats at Lamoine Christian Service Camp. She never met a dog or a cat that she didn’t like and her pets were a source of joy for her; but her greatest joy came from faithfully teaching the Good News of Jesus to her first and second graders in Sunday School for over 21 years. She was a faithful minister and servant with her husband Mark to Burnside Christian Church.

Lindsay is survived by her husband, Mark, of Carthage; parents, Cecil and Peggy Brassfield of Moberly; and her brother, Joshua Brassfield of The Netherlands.

Funeral services will be held at the Burnside Christian Church at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 17, 2026, with burial in Moss Ridge Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to the Burnside Christian Church, Carthage Public Library or to the family for funeral expenses. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
