Mitchell “Mitch” Kent Longenecker, 75, of Warsaw, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at his brother’s home in Warsaw.
Mitch was born on August 3, 1950, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Malcolm and Mary (Russell) Longenecker. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1968, and on July 4, 1992, he was united in marriage to Vera Maxine Martin at Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2008.
Mitch was employed at Morse Rubber for many years as a press operator until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, receiving his honorable discharge in 1977. It gave him great satisfaction to serve the country he loved so dearly. A man of simple tastes, Mitch didn’t care for fancy trips or fine dining. He would much rather play fetch with his dog Jesse, plant a garden or go hunting, all of which he did on his own property.
Mitch is survived by his son Brad Longenecker; two brothers: Tracy (Ann) and Brett (Rhonda) Longenecker; sister-in-law Melanie Longenecker; six grandchildren: Brandon, Tyler and Megan Longenecker; Kayla (Josh) Gebhardt, Jordan (Laney Miller) Brooks and Eric Brooks; six great-grandchildren: McKinley, Brantley, Octavius, Solly, Bo and Clint; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mitch is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vera, his brother Monte Longenecker and his sister Christine Longenecker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home directly before the service.
Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project.
