The historic WWII ship LST-325 made a stop in Keokuk on Tuesday night. The ship served in the Atlantic during WWII and made stops in Tunisia, Italy and Oran while also making trips to England and France from 1943-1945.
The ship was deactivated and reactivated several times from military duty from the end of WWII through 2001.
Now decommissioned permanently from military service, LST-325 is one of two WWII LST ships to be preserved in the United States.
LST-325 now gives tours and cruises along the Mississippi River. Its current cruise will end on September 12th and will reopen for tours on September 13th at its home in Evansville, IN.
