14% of U.S. corn, 9% of soybeans planted

Farmers did make some corn and soybean planting progress last week.

Activity was slowed down in parts of the Midwest and Plains by a wetter, cooler weather pattern, which included snow in some northern areas and below freezing temperatures extending into southern parts of the region.

The USDA says that as of Sunday, 14% of corn is planted, compared to the five-year average of 11%, and 3% has emerged, compared to 2% on average.
