Keokuk Water Pollution Plant to Enroll in New Rate Plan

At the Keokuk City Council meeting April 20th, the council voted to change the electrical service plan at the Water Pollution Control Plant. Alliant Energy account manager Nancy Snaadt explained to the council the benefits of converting their plan to an interruptible rate plan.

The plan would call for Alliant to have the ability to notify the water pollution control plant management before turning off power at designated times. Snaadt also explained the 4 different types of events that would call for a power shutoff.

The plan was suggested by Snaadt after the plant incorporated a standby generator which could be utilized during Alliant Energy curtailments. After hearing the details and asking questions regarding the savings and curtailments the council approved the cost-saving plan unanimously.
