It appears that natural causes contributed to the death of the Ameren worker who entered the Mississippi River Saturday morning. Hancock County Coroner Kendall Beals stated that while drowning was determined as the preliminary cause of death for 75 year old Ronald Summers, a heart attack is the reason he fell into the water. The investigation indicated that Summers was driving a golf cart when the heart attack occurred and Summers drove the cart into the river. Summers, who was with Ameren for more than 50 years, was reported missing Saturday morning when he failed to report after his shift.
