Search for Capsized Boat Called Off

Emergency crews from Iowa and Illinois responded to the report of a capsized boat Monday night on the Mississippi River. The Keokuk Fire Department, Keokuk Emergency Volunteer Corps, Warsaw Fire Department were called by a witness to a sinking boat south of the dam between Keokuk and Warsaw. According to KEVC Assistant Chief Charlie Biddenstadt, the search was suspended around 11PM volunteers found no debris or signs of a capsized boat. As of Tuesday morning, Biddenstadt stated that there were no plans to continue the search unless more evidence was found.

Update: Warsaw Fire Chief Steve Siegrist stated Tuesday morning that the search would not go on as emergency personnel are not even positive that any boat sunk.
