Police respond to shooting in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana

TheaDesign/iStock/Thinkstock(FORT WAYNE, Ind.) — Streets have reopened in downtown Fort Wayne in northeast Indiana after authorities responded to reports of a shooting this morning, police said.

Police initially told residents to avoid the area near the 800 block of East Berry Street.

“The blockade is due to a SWAT call out for shots fired in the area,” the police said on Twitter.

“There is NO active shooter,” the police added.

It appeared the shooter was holed up and barricaded in a home, police said. Garry Hamilton of the Fort Wayne Police told ABC affiliate WPTA that three people inside the home were removed.

Police later said a house on East Berry Street was cleared and streets were reopened.

No injuries have been reported, Hamilton told WPTA.
