Lee County Fair ’17 Edition a Success

The Lee county fair wrapped up Monday morning after a very successful weekend. The fair concluded with Future Farmers of America and 4H youth receiving awards for their exhibits throughout the fair. Lee County Fair Board President Brock Westfall stated that attendance was up from recent years after several new events were introduced for the 2017 version of the fair. Wednesday the fair held its first ever fish fry with about 200 people attending. For the first time in 50 years the fair hosted Iowa Harness Racing at the Lee county Speedway which Westfall hopes to continue to build off of in future years. Saturday night saw the annual demolition derby at the speedway sellout to capacity with 28 hundred people attending. Looking to next year Westfall stated the goal will to be to continue to add events and activities for each different age group.
