A cold pattern for the Heartland to greet the new month

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures from the Pacific Coast to the Rockies and northern and central High Plains, while cooler-than-normal conditions will cover the south-central U.S. and areas from the Mississippi Valley eastward.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in the northern Rockies and environs. In the storms’ wake, cold, mostly dry weather will prevail nearly nationwide.
