Women Inspiring Women Event Highlights

At Tuesday’s Women Inspiring Women event Tuesday an iconic Iowa woman spoke and 3 local women were bestowed with prestigious awards. Jesup, Iowa native Jen Loeb recounted her ventures which include summiting Mount Everest as well as the highest peak on 5 other continents. Loeb implored the audience to follow her dreams as she stated that as recently as several years ago she thought someone like her sitting atop Mount Everest was impossible. Following the presentation, the presentation of 3 awards began when Americorps Vista member Elsa Pietscher was awarded the Woman to Watch Award. Next, Wells Fargo financial planner and recent Forbes Top 200 Female Financial Planner nominee Heather Barnett was called to the stage to receive the Businesswoman of the year award. The final award of the night, the Woman of Achievement accolade, was bestowed upon current Keokuk City Council member Susan Dunek.  The Women Inspiring Women committee holds quarterly events to provide educational opportunities for women and recognition of women in the Keokuk community.
