A farmer in southeast Minnesota suggests there aren’t many contingency plans for herbicide shortages.
Brennen Toquam of Blooming Prairie says it sounds like some post-emergence products will be in short supply this year.
“So if you can plan ahead and try to stay ahead of it that way and almost layer residuals that would be an okay plan, but you’re always going to have escapes. I mean, you can always go back to the chemistries that kind of burn the beans and make them look ugly and brown for a few days, but you want to try to avoid that if at all possible.”
He tells Brownfield continued supply chain challenges are his biggest concern going into the growing season.
