KPD Identifies Deceased Man Found in Keokuk Home Fire

The Keokuk Police Department has identified the man who died as the result of a house fire that was discovered Saturday afternoon. It was reported earlier Monday that the police and fire departments responded to the home at 928 Des Moines Street in Keokuk after it was reported that there was a deceased person in the building. Upon inspection the Keokuk Fire Department discovered not only the deceased man but evidence of a severe fire that only occurred indoors and was completely extinguished before their arrival. In a release Monday afternoon the KPD identified the deceased as 56 year old James Schulte who owned the house where the fire occurred. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday in Iowa City and the police department will have more information on the fire when the cause of death is determined.
