Very few Iowa farmers are getting fieldwork done thanks to Mother Nature.
USDA reporters say a combination of snow, rain, and cold conditions limited farmers to only two days suitable for fieldwork, and much of that time was spent applying fertilizer, spreading manure, or planting oats.
USDA says 13% of the state’s oats are planted, which is 2 days behind the five-year average.
Only 24% of Iowa’s pastures and rangelands are rated in good condition, with 41% fair, 27% poor, and 5% very poor.
