Michigan farmers hope to dry out soon

Thumb-area farmer Ashely Kennedy tells Brownfield farmers are still patiently waiting to get started on fieldwork.

She says this time last year, sugarbeet growers in her area could already assess replant needs after an early start to the season.

“Last weekend we finally had some sugarbeets going in whereas a year ago they were doing replanting of sugarbeets that didn’t come up or were frozen or has some other issue—it’s a very different and unique year,” she shares.
