Early input purchases paying off

Central Iowa farmer Morey Hill says purchasing inputs last year was the right call for his farm.

“Fortunately, I had most of my stuff prepaid from last fall. I thought it was darned high then and now it’s even higher.”

He tells Brownfield he has enough diesel fuel to finish his spring fieldwork, but, “Then I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get some for summer and looking into fall, and then see if we can get a break sometime down the road.”

AAA says the national average of diesel was $5.54 per gallon on Tuesday.
