USDA: producers made, paid more in April

The USDA says farmers made and paid more in April than in March.

The index of prices received was up 5.1%, with gains in both the grain and livestock indices following increases in prices for corn, milk, broilers, and market eggs, which canceled out decreases for cauliflowers, celery, and lettuce.

The dairy index for April was 4.6% more than in March and 48% above April 2021 with an all milk price of $27.10 per hundredweight, an increase of $1.20 on the month and $8.80 on the year.
