Minnesota farmers nearing the end for corn planting

Corn planting is nearing the end in Minnesota.

The latest crop report from USDA says at 93 percent complete, this year’s pace is five days off the five-year average.

Corn emergence is at 66 percent with 60 percent rated in good to excellent condition.

Soybean planting is 72 percent complete, compared to the usual pace of 90 percent.  Emergence is nearly 40 percent.

For small grains, spring wheat is 65 percent planted and 33 percent emerged, oats are 86 percent planted, and barley is at 60 percent.
