In an email to The Hollywood Reporter, the hackers delivered materials including a file labelled “Script GOT7,” marketing spreadsheets and media plans for the series and emails from an unnamed HBO executive, the magazine reports.
The hackers also sent a video message to HBO CEO Richard Plepler. “HBO was one of our difficult targets to deal with but we succeeded (it took about 6 months),” the message said. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the message also demanded money from HBO, claiming that HBO was the group’s 17th target, only three of whom they said did not pay.
“HBO believed that further leaks might emerge from this cyber incident when we confirmed it last week. As we said, the forensic review is ongoing,” a network spokesperson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We continue to work around the clock with outside cybersecurity firms and law enforcement to resolve the incident.”
