Ohio crop conditions decline slightly

The USDA says dry weather has caused early signs of crop stress in Ohio.

Corn planting is wrapped up, with 95 percent of the crop emerged. Forty-nine percent of the state’s corn crop is rated good to excellent.

Ninety-six percent of soybeans are planted, compared to the five-year average of 94 percent. Eighty-five percent of the crop has emerged, with 49 percent rated good to excellent.

All of the state’s winter wheat crop has headed, and 70 percent is mature.
