Ron Howard reveals title of Han Solo movie

“Han Solo: A Star Wars Story” star Alden Ehrenreich; Gregg DeGuire/WireImage(NEW YORK) — And the name of the forthcoming Han Solo stand-alone movie is — wait for it — Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Director Ron Howard revealed the name in a video posted to his Twitter.  He begins by announcing production has wrapped on the film, and thanking the cast and crew for their work.

“And to the fans out there, I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures that I’ve been sharing — pictures that I’ve taken from the set of…”

Howard then pauses and looks off-camera: “Can we even say the name of the movie?” he asks.

That’s when a pair of hairy arms — clearly Chewbacca’s — hands him a large placard, which Howard displays to the camera.  On it is the movie’s title: Solo: A Star Wars Story.

“I’ll see you next year,” Howard says, with a smile.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, starring Alden Ehrenreich as the legendary character in his early days, also stars Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, as well as Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson and Paul Bettany.  It’s scheduled for a May 2018 release.
