A good rain is on hold

An atmospheric scientist says farmers across much of the Corn Belt will have to wait until June 10 before the chance for significant rain.

It’s been dry for many areas and Eric Snodgrass with Nutrien Ag Solutions says farmers should expect heat stress to continue affecting the crop in the next few days, especially the dryland crops in western Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.

“Some of the crop is soon to be approaching the eighth vegetative stage when the corn cob is established and if there’s no subsoil moisture to use, we’ll have an issue.
