The CEO of Kansas Wheat says there could be less winter wheat acres in 2024 as some farmers may plant other crops due to recent moisture.
Justin Gilpin says the rain will recharge soil profiles and producers may use that to their advantage. “Where you had abandoned fields that were going to sit fallow until being planted for wheat again this fall because of the moisture situation, it’s created an opportunity.”
He tells Brownfield there could be increases in late-spring season planted crops.
